"Showing appreciation to teachers" by Steven Campanella, and
"Childhood friendships" by Rexanne Mancini.

Also recently added were:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Fans of the Narnia stories may or may not be eagerly anticipating the Disney film series, starting with The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe this Christmas. Speaking as a huge fan myself, I was horrified at the thought of another attempt to reproduce the books which I loved so much as a child - but having watched the trailer at the site above I have been well and truly converted and now can't wait for the film to be released! There are various other aspects of the site worth exploring: you can watch videos of the making of the films, find information about the characters, download wallpapers and try some fairly difficult quizzes.

Lots new at Activity Village today!

We have added lots new to Activity Village today. First, a new section on "Teacher Appreciation" - perfect as we come to the end of the school year and are looking for ways to say thank you! Find Teacher Appreciation here.

We will be adding more to the section over the next few days - in particular we have some printables planned.

The Teacher Appreciation theme started us looking for some new jigsaws, and we selected some really great, colourful photos to use in a new "School Jigsaws" section. Fun all through the school year, they are perhaps particularly appropriate as a new year starts in a "Back to School" theme. You can also save them to a floppy or CD-Rom and give them to your teacher to use in the classroom .. if she doesn't enjoy doing them, the children will! Find School Jigsaws here.

We also recently added a "theme" page on farm animals which you can find here:

Coloring pages - don't forget to check out our huge selection!

The free coloring pages at Activity Village are one of the most popular sections of the website, probably because they are original, cute and taylor-made for the website by Jenni Hammond, a very talented granny! If you haven't visited for a while, please do go and have a look. We have also moved the page to a new location, so you might want to change your bookmarks while you are there.

Click here to explore Activity Village's coloring pages.

We are also in the process of updating and adding to our coloring page links section, which provides an enormous resource of categorised links - everything from disney coloring pages to bible coloring pages to butterfly coloring pages, with many more in between. This section will just go on getting bigger and better, so if you are looking for something specific which you can't find at Activity Village, have a look here!

And finally, if there is something you are looking for which you just can't track down, please leave us a comment and tell us what it is, and we will do our best to find it or provide it!

Showing Appreciation to Teachers

Showing Appreciation to Teachers

This latest article reminds us of how important our children's teachers are, and suggests ways in which we might show our appreciation - particularly important as we near the end of the school year.

Scribbles - Masterpieces To Color

Scribbles - Masterpieces To Color

This excellent site has much to keep your "arty" child busy. This particular page is full of masterpieces reduced to black and white drawings for children to colour in - a great way to get them familiar with well-known works of art. There is also much to explore in the rest of the site, including information about artists, an online colouring book, various download, and contests.

Dance Mat Typing - A Fun Way for Kids to Learn to Type

BBC - Schools - Dance Mat Typing - Home

This new website uses animated characters and a game-like interface to introduce the keyboard to children and provide typing practice. Great fun (although the rather irritating accents of the characters may confuse or annoy the children!)
